As Dean of the Faculty of International Studies (FIS), Hanoi University, may I extend a very warm welcome to you and invite your excursion into our innovative and exciting programs. Established since 2002, FIS is the unique public university faculty in Vietnam using English as its official teaching and learning language for the students. FIS offers Bachelor Graduation Programs covering four major academic areas: International Relations, International Economics, Development and Social Studies, Public Administration and Public Finance. A comprehensive education curriculum has been constructed and delivered by a highly qualified Faculty team and foreign lecturers. The permanent teaching staff of FIS is composed of well trained teachers mostly graduated from abroad and have attained long and qualified working experiences. FIS students, consisting of both Vietnamese and foreigners, are benefited not only from the regular training programs but also from international cooperation activities at the Faculty – where a good team of foreign visiting teachers (from Europe, America, Asia) have been able to join the Faculty in teaching specific courses. Indeed, it has become a unique place in the country and an open center for international studies in Southeast Asia. Apart from teaching aspect, FIS is also heavily involved in research studies and education cooperation to build up its perpective and posture for modern training. FIS students are practically benefited from cooperation programs on exchanged studies with partner universities abroad, on field course research conducted jointly with foreign students, or internship research work at various organizations in the country. FIS has long tradition of teaching collaboration and exchange with foreign universities, which include among others the University of California, University of Michigan (USA), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), Monash University, University of Queensland (Australia), University of Palermo (Italy). Such cooperations have helped enrich the Faculty’s expertise in teaching as well as the students’ experiences in study and research. For future prospect, FIS is planning to establish a Master Training Programs in International Studies which will provide MA degrees to graduation students in International Relations, International Economics, Development Studies and Public Administration. This would require a lot of work to be acomplished at FIS, but it is certainly on our Agenda. In summary, I would invite your attention to the attracting training programs at our Faculty of International Studies, and encourage you to make it as your first choice of undergraduate study. Beginning your university education is an exciting and challenging time, but be confident that it will provide a magnificent platform to launch the next stage of your life.
Faculty of International Studies, HANU
