This subject aims to equip learners with knowledge about Vietnam’s foreign policy from 1945 to present. This subject emphasizes the role of foreign policy in the country’s development, Vietnam’s foreign policy in the resistance wars against France and the United States, Vietnam’s foreign policy in Doi Moi period, Vietnam’s important bilateral and multilateral relationships with China, the US, ASEAN and multilateral organizations.
- Objectives of the subject
At the end of the course, students may:
– Describe an overview of Vietnam’s foreign policy from 1945 to the present.
– Present major issues in Vietnam’s foreign policy such as national interests, strategic goals, relations with important partners.
– Analyze the policies and guidelines of the Party and State of Vietnam on foreign affairs, especially Vietnam’s foreign strategy with important partners in the region and the world, such as the US, China and ASEAN.
– Apply learned knowledge to present and analyze Vietnam’s policies in the new context.
– Detect, synthesize and analyze international issues, events and phenomena related to Vietnam’s foreign policy.
– Be knowledgeable and loyal to the interests of the nation, have good political, ethical and professional qualities.
