The course introduces the basic theories of politics so learners can understand the general operation of the political system, the nature of power, as well as the aspects of power in modern society and their influences on development. This is a basic subject to help learners deepen their studies and research subjects or issues related to politics.

At the end of the course, students may:

  • Explain the basic contents of political science, sub-disciplines of political science.
  • Present the fundamental theories of politics and the general operation of politics and political institutions.
  • Analyze contemporary political issues and events by applying acquired knowledge.
  • Analyze data and interpret contemporary economic, political, and physical issues and events from multiple perspectives.
  • Apply critical thinking and actively participate in debate.
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-study and research contemporary political issues and political theories in order to understand the relationship between politics and development process.
