- Content description
Intercultural Communication helps learners explain the relationship between culture and communication in multicultural contexts; the complexity in intercultural communication, some approaches to intercultural communication; conflicts and culture shock and how to manage conflicts in the context of globalization. On that basis, learners know how to apply their acquired knowledge to analyze the complexity and culture conflicts in communication; provide appropriate and effective behaviors in intercultural communication. In addition, the subject equips learners to get ready to engage in communication; proactively and actively expand communication relationships in a multicultural environment.
- Objectives of the subject
At the end of the course, students may:
- Explain the basic concepts of intercultural communication, ethnocultural characteristics, conflict and management of conflict in intercultural communication, characterization/ global personality and acculturation.
- Analyze and evaluate the diversity of intercultural communication, the relationship between culture and communication, culture conflicts/ culture shock and the management of culture conflicts, acculturation and characterization/ global personality and ethical values in intercultural communication.
- Analyze approaches to intercultural communication, develop strategies to deal with culture conflicts/ culture shock and how to apply them appropriately in multicultural contexts.
- Apply knowledge of intercultural communication and know how to behave and communication appropriately and effectively in a multicultural environment, especially in the context of globalization.
- Adaptable to communicate in a multicultural environment, especially skills in coordination and teamwork in a multicultural environment.
- Actively improve knowledge and ability to analyze conflicts/ differences and behave properly in intercultural communication when working in a multicultural environment.
Actively seek out experiential opportunities to improve intercultural communication capacity, ready to deal with conflicts/ culture shock issues.
