Civil society introduces different approaches to NGOs, funds, networks around the globe, the role of civil society organizations, types of organizations; the role of civil society in the process of globalization; theories of civil society: Left, right and popular in the world; global civil society and interaction with governments and international organizations; governance of civil society organizations. Along with lectures, the subject requires learners to apply the knowledge and methodology of CSO research in Vietnam.
- Objectives of the subject
At the end of the course, students may:
– Master the theories and fundamental issues of civil society;
– Understand the role of civil society organizations
– Understand and analyze simple civil society issues using different approaches;
– Develop basic skills in specialization including reviewing, reading, summarizing and criticizing contents related to civil society development in the context of Vietnam.
– Demonstrate general level understanding of the following issues: the concept of civil society, the type of nest, the role of civil society in the process of globalization, theories of civil society: left, right, popular in the world, global civil society and interaction with governments and international organizations and governance of civil society organizations
